D.Ed stands for Diploma in Education. D.Ed also termed as JBT( Junior Basic Training). It is also called as D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education) in some states. Eligibility

D.Ed Eligibility is almost same for all State Boards and Universities.

Minimum eligibility criteria required for the candidates to fulfill, to seek admission in D.Ed / D.El.Ed / JBT Course:

  • Candidates should have passed 10+2 or an equivalent examination with a minimum of 45% marks from a recognized university or Board.
  • The minimum percentage required might vary from one institute to another.
  • Graduates who are willing to take admission in D.Ed should have passed with minimum of 45% marks aggregate in Graduation from a recognized University.
  • At the time of application filing, Candidate’s age should be between 17 and 28 years.
  • The candidates who have appeared for 10+2 or Higher secondary exams and are waiting for the results can also apply.

Admission Process

D.Ed Admission process can vary Institution to Institution . Various Universities/Boards take D.Ed Admission on Entrance exam and merit list basis.

For Merit Based Admission – For the Merit list, student’s 12th Marks are considered. Board will allot a regular college on the basis of Merit list generated. There can be multiple merit list depending upon the seat availability in the colleges.

There are some colleges which can take Direct admissions as well.

Eligibility

B.Ed Eligibility is almost same for all Universities.
As per NCTE, candidate who have 50%  or more in their Graduation or Post Graduation are eligible for enrolling in B.Ed in Regular mode.

On the Other Hand for Reserved categories SC/ST eligibility criteria is 47.5 % or more in Graduation or Post Graduation.

Students who are willing to pursue B.Ed in distance mode must have a teaching experience of at least 2 years and a Teaching Diploma (D.Ed/ JBT).

Eligibility

Eligibility for Master of Education / M.Ed can vary from University to University.

As per NCTE, candidate who have 50%  or more in their Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) are eligible for enrolling in M.Ed in Regular mode. B.Ed degree for the applying candidate should be from a UGC approved University and from NCTE affiliated College.

On the Other Hand, Reserved categories SC/ST/Disabled get 2.5% – 5% of relaxation in qualifying degree.

Candidates who have completed B.El.Ed (Bachelor of Elementary Education) from a Government University with 55% marks can also apply for the M.Ed Admission.

Admission Process

Admission in Master of  Education  programme is mostly based on Entrance test by the concerning Universities.

Entrance Based Admission :  It helps in streamlining the students from different states or educational background. Student should be eligible for Entrance exam conducted by the University. Entrance exam eligibility is based on the last qualifying degree. The merit list is prepared on the basis of student’s performance in Entrance Exam. Final Admission is done on the basis of Merit list only. By far this is the most efficient and widely used mode of admission.

Online counseling based Admission : Some Government and private Universities take M.Ed Admission on the basis of online counseling where merit list is prepared on the basis of last qualifying degree.

There are some Universities/Colleges which can take Direct admissions in M.Ed as well.
